The Gambia Boundary Commission Visits Benin to Participate in Border Commission Meetings.

Recently, a delegation from The Gambia Boundary Commission, headed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Lands and Chair of the Commission, PS Ndey Mare Njie, was in Cotonou, Benin to participate in Border Commission meetings.
The mission, facilitated by AU, ECOWAS, GIZ, and the Government of the Republic of Benin, included the 2nd Meeting of ECOWAS Heads of Border Commissions (19 – 20 August), The Meeting of the Exchange and Coordination Platform of Border Area Governance (ECPBAM) (21 – 22 August), and The Exchange of Experience between Benin and The Gambia on Border Governance (25 – 26 August 2025).
The forums aimed at bringing Heads of Boundary Commissions and technicians together as a follow-up to the 1st Regional Meeting of ECOWAS Heads of Commissions. They discussed emerging border issues affecting member states, provided updates on planning and coordination strategies between border commissions and facilitated the exchange of experiences on border governance between the two countries with a view to adopting best practices learnt in the operations of the Commissions of the two countries.
