Welcoming recent graduates from the University of The Gambia

On October 11, 2023, Ms. Saffie Sankareh-Farage, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs, along with Mr. Momodou Taal, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Admin and Finance), welcomed recent graduates from the University of The Gambia.
These graduates are part of the Gambia Youth Graduate Service Scheme, a collaborative initiative involving the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the University of The Gambia, and supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). They will embark on a year-long internship program spanning various government ministries, institutions, and private organizations in The Gambia.
In her welcoming address, Ms. Sankareh-Farage expressed the ministry’s enthusiasm for hosting these interns and emphasized its commitment to enhancing their professional development.
She provided a comprehensive overview of the ministry, its departments, mandate, and functions. The interns were assured that they would be strategically placed in departments and councils aligned with their academic backgrounds and personal interests.
The Permanent Secretary also highlighted upcoming ministry initiatives, including the formulation of the National Land Policy, reforms of the land administration sector and well as the digitisation processes, encouraging the interns to seize this opportunity for skill development and exploration of diverse career paths.
DPS Taal concluded the meeting by expressing gratitude to the interns for their dedication and encouraged them to actively pursue personal growth and development.
The Ministry of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs remains dedicated to supporting youth development in line with the national development goals of the nation.
